About

Mission and History

Sentier Pluriel is a non profit organization that was incorporated in October 2017. It is run by a Board of Directors and enjoys the support of many volunteers. Its mission is to create a network of non-motorized public trails on the territory of the Local Service District (LSD) of Grande-Digue. Thus, it contributes to the quality of life of the community and to sustainable development. Sentier Pluriel relies on the generosity of the owners of the land crossed by the trails. It has forged partnerships with other local organizations, allowing the establishment on its trails of a variety of activities and points of interests related to culture, environment, education, heritage and the outdoors.

To date, Sentier Pluriel has signed land use agreements with over a dozen private landowners and developed 13.3 km of trails, with more in preparation. In addition, Sentier Pluriel has partnered with several other local organizations, such as a cross-country ski club, a walking club, a local school, a historical society and a cultural society. As a result, a book hut was installed at the entrance to one of the trails and a nature art project has been organized on the trails since 2019 as part of the Bouctouche Ecofestival. In addition, several interpretive educational panels, created with the assistance of the Université de Moncton, and an outdoor nature classroom were set up on the trails, as well as two osprey nesting platforms.
